About this Breed
The Bearded Collie is a shaggy fellow that loves to get to work! The breed is believed to have originated in Great Britain during the 1700’s. Beardies look an awful lot like Old English Sheepdogs. The easiest way to distinguish the two is the tail: Old English Sheepdogs typically have a bobbed tail, where Beardies do not. Beardies are also leaner and more angular. This breed was made to work, and boy do they love having a job! These herding dogs need plenty of space to run around. They can be quite headstrong, so training from an early age is super important. Beardies can also be pretty vocal pups, but thats just because they are used to barking at sheep all day! Their shaggy coats require a lot of brushing to no surprise. The Bearded Collie is a wonderful dog that will excel when given plenty of room to run.
