  • About the Blue Lacy

Developed in the mid 1850s, the Blue Lacy dog is a working dog bred for ranching in the unforgiving Texas heat. It has a lightly built but powerful body with a short, smooth coat. Though called the “Blue” Lacy dog, Lacys also come in red and tricolor, with eyes that range from yellow to dark amber. Color dilution alopecia is a known breed disorder, though it is relatively rare. English Shepherd, Greyhound, and Grey Wolf are cited as contributing breeds, with possible additional contributions from scenthounds and coyote!
