Dogs with heart disease and this mutation should still be prescribed ACE inhibitors if recommended by your veterinarian. ACE inhibitors were found to reduce the activity of ACE regardless of the dog’s genotype for this mutation. Further studies are needed to determine how this mutation impacts the treatment of heart disease in the dog.
