Embark has several products to assist breeders when it comes to DNA testing. Embark for Breeders Dog DNA Kits come bundled in a variety of ways to match your purebred breeding program. If you breed designer mixes, there’s a kit for you, too.

The Standard Kit can screen adult purebred dogs and puppies. This kit gives the right tools to manage your breeding program from one to 20+ dogs. If you are new to DNA testing or want to buy in bulk, this kit has you covered. It includes one swab and provides breed-relevant disease screening for your purebred dogs. The kit also includes traits testing, (including coat color, body size, and more), DLA diversity testing, and a genetic Coefficient of Inbreeding (COI) score. Other tools include Matchmaker, the breeding pair assessment, and genetic health results counseling.
Embark’s test results are accepted by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) for all conditions where OFA has an established DNA registry, as well as the The Kennel Club in the United Kingdom and many other international organizations. The Breeding Package
The Breeding Package assesses prospective breeding outcomes for a male and female pair or evaluates two males/females. This package is designed as a useful tool for breeders planning future litters. This kit can be used if you plan to test your dam and want to test a potential sire at the same time, or if you want to test two potential sires at the same time before planning your next breeding. It includes two standard kits, plus an expert consultation with an Embark breeder specialist. Testing a male and female pair will assess prospective litter attributes. When testing two males or two females the test results can help guide potential mate selection and inform on your overall breeding program. Price for the Breeding Package is $134 per kit (2 kits).

The Litter Packages
The Litter Packages will access the health of an entire litter. They come in two sizes, one package for breeders with large litters of 4-12 puppies at $99 per kit and one for smaller litters up to 3 puppies at $109 per kit. These kits are designed to give breeders special pricing to test entire litters. This package is ideal for testing all puppies in a litter before they go to their new homes. Breeders can give puppy owners a genetic health profile to share with their veterinarian for personalized care for the life of their newest family member. Additionally, it helps a breeder decide which puppy to keep from a litter when adding to their breeding program. Both options include all benefits of the Embark for Breeders standard kits, with discounts for larger quantities. Individual puppy attributes can vary widely, from their genetic Coefficient of Inbreeding (COI) to clear/carrier/at-risk statuses for various genetic diseases.
Each kit must be used on puppies from the same litter and gives the breeder information on the risk of genetic health conditions relevant to your breed, genetic COI, physical traits such as coat color, length, body size, and more, as well as DLA Diversity Assessment. The litter package helps breeders select puppies to add to their breeding program early in their life because in some breeds physical traits do not fully manifest until later in adolescence and DNA testing can help identify these traits. For puppies going to pet homes, test results can be important for the lifelong care of the dog, and a valuable addition to the take-home package of information breeders provide new dog owners.
