Pair Predictor now includes a coat color calculator! This new feature joins genetic health and genetic diversity predictions for your litters. This first-in-the-industry breeder tool delivers three results, all at once, for planned litters produced by a specific sire and dam:
- The potential genetic health risks for each litter
- The genetic eCOI for a planned litter
- The coat color predictions for litters

Coat Color Calculator
Because it can act as a dog coat color genetics calculator, Pair Predictor takes the guesswork out of planning litters. Pair Predictor now includes trait predictions for base coat color, base patterns, and pigment for all breeds and breed mixes. In this version, Pair Predictor gives breeders the litter’s predicted coat color percentages for the E, K, A, B, and D loci.
Several genes are known to affect coat color in dogs. They all interact, and in some cases, other often unknown, genetic effects may also influence color and pattern. We cannot test for all color patterns yet such as some types of spotting and ticking.
Genetic Health Conditions
Breeders can compare the genetic health results of a potential sire and dam in their account with Embark test results. After choosing the mating, Pair Predictor will show you the probabilities of producing at-risk, carrier, and/or clear puppies for each genetic condition. These results appear in the at-risk, carrier, or clear sections under genetic health conditions. Click on a highlighted health condition to learn more about the disease, risk probabilities within the litter, and recommendations from our veterinary geneticists on how you can improve your outcomes. Genetic eCOI
Pair Predictor, which works like an automated Punnett square, can be used on your own Embark-tested dogs or other dogs that another breeder has shared with you/shown on your My Embark for Breeders page.
