Mi-Ki

Though the Mi-Ki breed is rare, with their cute looks and charming personality their popularity is ever increasing. Originally bred in the 1980’s, the Mi-Ki was developed from a mixture of Papillion, Maltese, Shih Tzu, Yorkshire Terrier, and Japanese Chin. Borrowing from these ancestors, the small-statured Mi-Ki's coat can be long and fluffy or stringy with feathered ears. They can also be sleek and short-haired, though also with feathered ears. A variety of coat patterns and colors are seen, but rarely a solid color. The International Mi-Ki Registration is currently seeking recognition from AKC for breed standards.

Mi-Kis are intelligent, affectionate, and gentle companions. They love to play and exercise, but are also calm when needed. A long daily walk will keep the Mi-Ki well-exercised and healthy. Being outgoing and friendly makes them welcoming to strangers and playful with children and other pets.
