This developmental condition affects how cartilage is converted into bone during growth. When this process is disrupted, bones may not develop normally, leading to skeletal dwarfism and changes in body proportions.
Signs are first recognized in puppies.

Penetrance: This mutation has an autosomal recessive inheritance, meaning that dogs must have two copies of the mutation in order to show clinical signs.
