Affected dogs have abnormally short legs but a normal sized body. They can also have changes to their rib cage and an underbite.

Signs are first recognized in puppies.

Genetic testing and clinical signs can be used to diagnose this condition.

There is no treatment for this condition.

Some dogs show only mild limb shortening, while others may have significant mobility or breathing challenges.

Keep your dog’s environment safe with nonslip mats, soft bedding, and ramps or stairs to help them move around more easily and avoid strain on their joints.

Arthritis can develop over time, so regular checkups and weight management can help your dog stay as active and comfortable as possible.

This mutation was first described in Miniature Poodles.

Penetrance: This mutation has an autosomal recessive inheritance, meaning that dogs must have two copies of the mutation in order to show clinical signs.
