Primary Hyperoxaluria

AGXT

This condition affects how the body breaks down certain substances, leading to the buildup of oxalate, a natural waste compound. As a result, dogs are prone to forming oxalate kidney and bladder stones, which can cause urinary problems.

Affected dogs may have excessive thirst and urination and strain while urinating. If in kidney failure, they may not be able to produce urine, vomit, and be lethargic.

Signs are often first noted in puppies.
