Remember Lissibelle? This adorable pup was part of our segment featured on the Today Show in 2017 and her owner, Rebecca Maddox, just shared an update with us. Not only has Lissibelle changed her look, but she also moved to the Alps!
Rebecca wanted to complete a DNA test for Lissibelle after losing her dog Rodeo too soon. She says Rodeo was like a family member and died suddenly from an unknown sensitivity to a common canine medication. Rebecca said Rodeo had a mutation in the MDR1 gene, which leads to increased sensitivity to certain classes of drugs.
Our DNA test may have been a game changer for Rebecca and Rodeo. So when she heard about Embark, she got her new dog Lissibelle tested right away. Rebecca learned that Lissi was half Australian Shepherd and half Shih Tzu. She also learned that her furry friend was “At Risk” for the same gene mutation as Rodeo, MDR1.
Move to the Bavarian Alps
Rebecca recently got in touch with us here at Embark and let us know that her and Lissibelle moved to a medieval village at the foothills of the Bavarian Alps! They made the journey last year. Utilizing a DNA test before the move was “the best thing I’ve done for her,” according to Rebecca.
She went on to say, “It helped us know not to give her sedation drugs and other medications either required or recommended for a long flight.”
Lissi also recently got a makeover, check her out:
We are thrilled that we were able to help and hope Lissi is enjoying her new home and new look! In case you missed it, check out the Today Show segment here.
