Knowing which breeding pairs will produce the genetically healthiest puppies just got a whole lot easier with Pair Predictor. This new tool, located in the breeder tools section of your My Embark for Breeders account, takes the guesswork out of assessing potential matings, and the predicted litter outcomes. Pair Predictor for health conditions will work with all breeds and all breed mixes. Log in to test it out.
In this version of the tool for genetic health conditions, breeders can compare the genetic health results of a potential sire and dam in their account that have Embark test results. After choosing the mating, Pair Predictor will show you the probabilities of producing at-risk, carrier, and/or clear puppies for each genetic condition. These results appear in the at-risk, carrier, or clear sections under genetic health conditions. Click on a highlighted health condition to learn more about the disease, risk probabilities within the litter and recommendations from our veterinary geneticists on how you can improve your outcomes. To learn more about using genetic health results in breeding decision making, watch this video from our Chief Science Officer Dr. Adam Boyko and learn more about Pair Predictor.
Pair Predictor, which works like an automated Punnett square, can be used on your own Embark-tested dogs or other dogs that another breeder has shared with you/show on your My Embark for Breeders page. To learn more about health condition predictions or how to use these results in your breeding program, check out the included educational resources. Our Embark specialists are also available to help with consultations.
Pair Predictor also includes a new tool for predicting the Coefficient of Inbreeding (COI). In the new eCOI calculator tool in Pair Predictor there are 60 breeds and breed mixes now available.
If you have breeder friends who have not yet tested with Embark use the Refer a Breeder offer and you’ll both benefit.
