Terrier Brasileiro
Developed in the early 20th century from a blend of European terriers and local farm dogs, the Terrier Brasileiro quickly made a name for itself as a very active all-purpose farmhand and family companion. While the breed is popular for it’s bright, affectionate personality in Brazil, it is relatively rare in other countries.
The Terrier Brasileiro is a small, robust dog with boundless energy and a high prey drive. Its patterned short, patterned coat (white with brown and black or grey) is easy to care for and allows them to be active in warm climates. Agile and alert, courageous without being too intense, they are excellent vermin hunters and watch dogs. Terrier Brasileiro typically love dog sports like agility or scentwork - anything that allows them to leverage their athleticism and exercise their independent minds.
Terrier Brasileiro bond strongly with their families and can do well with children respectful of their needs. They can live harmoniously with other pets as well, particularly when they are introduced early. Wise owners will keep their terrier instincts in mind around small animals.
