About this Breed

Who doesn’t love the giant, slobbery Saint Bernard? These dogs have mysterious origins, but they likely popped up during the 10th century. They come from Switzerland, where they aided monks in the Alps. Saint Bernards were built to survive the harsh mountain climates. These guys have huge paws and a great sense of smell which makes them invaluable in the rescue of avalanche victims. This breed loves to shed and needs a little more room to stretch than an apartment allows. Because of their droopy jowls, these guys can’t help but drool. Just make sure to keep a towel handy at all times!Saint Bernards are a gentle breed that can make great family pets.
