The Braque Francais Pyrenean is a gun dog developed in 15th century France. Most of today's modern shorthaired pointing breeds are descendants of this unique breed, which is still used for retrieving, especially in France. There are two types of Braque Francais: the Pyrenean and the Gascony. While considered the same breed, they are different varieties with their own standards.
